Tim Miller’s mom, Maxine, made the best cookies. She was the kind of baker who knew the unlimited potential of playfully combining flavors, tastes, and ingredients in all kinds of ways. She thrilled in sifting through newspapers and magazines in search of new recipes to inspire her own creations.
A Family Recipe, Reimagined As Tim got older and started making cookies for his kids, he wanted to preserve the joy of her baking, but adapt it for a healthier lifestyle.
So, with the today’s knowledge of clean eating, he substituted ingredients one by one, taking out all the processed flours and sugars, gluten, animal products and, with them, all the empty calories. He replaced them with equally tasty substitutes like gluten free oats, brown rice flour, flaxseed “eggs,” and coconut sugar. With these new ingredients came not only great taste, but powerhouse nutrients and “positive” calories.
You see, Tim’s mom didn’t just teach him how to bake. She passed on her love for learning; for embracing not just new recipes, but new ideas, both in and out of the kitchen.
Unwilling to sacrifice the joys of fresh-baked cookies or healthy ingredients, Tim’s work resulted in the heavenly taste of mom’s cookies with ingredients that fit today’s modern, healthy lifestyle.
And thus, Maxine’s Heavenly was born.
